DarkMatter exists to protect privacy and security. This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") sets out the small number of things you must not do with the service, so that DarkMatter stays safe, legal, and reliable for everyone. It forms part of our Terms of Service. By using the DarkMatter service (the "Service") you agree to this Policy.
Our aim is a light touch. We do not monitor your activity, and this Policy is not a licence for us to snoop. It simply defines the limits that let us keep the Service running responsibly.
Prohibited activities
You must not use the Service to:
- Break the law. Engage in, or help others engage in, activity that is illegal under the laws that apply to you or to DarkMatter.
- Harm others. Send malware, launch denial-of-service or intrusion attacks, attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems or data, or otherwise damage networks, devices, or people.
- Abuse others online. Send spam or bulk unsolicited messages, engage in harassment or threats, or carry out fraud, phishing, or identity theft.
- Exploit or endanger children. Access, produce, or distribute child sexual abuse material, or any content that exploits or endangers minors. This is an absolute prohibition.
- Infringe rights. Violate intellectual-property or other rights, including by distributing content you have no right to share.
- Undermine the Service. Resell or redistribute the Service without authorisation, circumvent usage or device limits, or interfere with the Service's operation, security, or other users.
Network integrity
To protect performance and security for all customers, you must not use the Service in a way that places an unreasonable or disproportionate burden on our infrastructure, or that is designed to disrupt it.
Enforcement
Because we do not keep activity logs, our enforcement is driven by reports, legal obligations, and protecting the integrity of the Service, not by monitoring your browsing. Where we become aware of a breach of this Policy, we may take proportionate action, including issuing a warning, or suspending or terminating the account involved. Serious breaches, particularly those involving harm to others or to children, may be acted on immediately and reported to the appropriate authorities where we are legally required to do so.
Reporting abuse
If you believe someone is using DarkMatter in breach of this Policy, please tell us at support@darkmattervpn.com so we can look into it.
Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date above. Continuing to use the Service means you accept the updated Policy.
