Check what your connection reveals
Two free checks that run in your browser, with or without DarkMatter. No account needed.

What is my IP address?
See the public IP address websites see for your connection right now, with the approximate location and provider it points to.
What it checks
- Your public IP address, and whether it’s IPv4 or IPv6
- The approximate location and internet provider linked to it
- The browser, operating system and time zone your device reports
Your browser asks our own endpoint for your address so we can show it back to you. Browser and device details are read in your browser.

WebRTC leak test
Check whether WebRTC, the browser feature behind video calls, reveals a different IP address from the rest of your browsing.
What it checks
- Whether WebRTC reports a public address that differs from your browsing
- Whether your local network address is visible to websites
- Like-for-like only, so an IPv6 address is never compared with an IPv4 one
Runs only when you click. It uses our own STUN server and our IP endpoint for the comparison, and the result is worked out in your browser rather than sent to us.
How to use them
The useful result is the difference between two checks.
Check with the VPN off
Note the IP address and location shown. That’s what websites normally see.Connect and check again
With a VPN connected, the address should change to the VPN server’s.Re-run after changing networks
Leaks tend to appear when a connection drops or you move between Wi-Fi and mobile data, so check again after switching.
What these checks can’t tell you
They show what your browser reveals on this network, right now. They don’t test for DNS leaks, and a clean result isn’t proof that a VPN is set up correctly on your device.
Want websites to see a different address?
With DarkMatter connected, websites see the VPN server’s IP address instead of yours.
