Before you install on your Mac
- Open the installer while you’re connected to the internet, so macOS can verify the package before it runs.
- The first time you connect, macOS asks you to approve DarkMatter’s system extension. Approve it in System Settings › Privacy & Security (System Preferences › Security & Privacy on older versions of macOS), then allow the VPN configuration.

Is there a DarkMatter app for macOS?

Why does macOS ask me to allow something the first time I connect?
The app uses a macOS system extension to create the secure tunnel. The first time, macOS asks you to approve it, usually in System Settings under Privacy & Security, and to allow the VPN configuration. This is a standard, one-time macOS security step for VPN apps. Once approved, DarkMatter connects normally.
The VPN won’t connect on my Mac. What should I try?
First check that you approved the system extension and VPN configuration when macOS asked. If you dismissed the prompt, you can approve it in System Settings under Privacy & Security.
